In spare room so havent used it and cannot comment on sturdiness. Friend assembled it for me; could see it took effort.Its heavy so I couldnt do it by myself /I couldnt carry the parcel into the house. Definitely not simple to assemble as suggested by some of the reviews. Lovely for the price
