First and foremost let me say I like the quality of the bed frame. Solid posts, clever support pieces across the middle, etc. Lots of good things here. But at the end I just had to give it a mediocre grade. It likely would have been a 5/star experience except for the ONE guy/girl who had ONE job to do. I know how it goes, they probably were pressured to hire someone from the extended family who lost their job and they thought How bad could it be.I mean they have a simple job / simply put the ONE and only sticker on the ONE lateral support piece that shows which way is up on that piece. Thats it. No welding, no calculus, no advanced electronics. One sticker on one piece. But it turns out that simple little sticker / when put on the wrong way can cause all hell to break loose / or cause hell by not breaking loose / more on that later. For when that sticker is upside down, the lateral support goes on wrong / hard to tell at first / and then all the rest of the steps work just fine until the very last one. The VERY LAST ONE. That step is to put these clever side supports on. First several went on just fine but then it became clear that something was wrong as they werent seating in their slots. Hmmm. Look things over carefully and spot the problem. Shouldnt be too bad to fix right. Just take off the bolts, flip it over, re/attach and voila. All done right. Yup that was the plan. But then reality raised up and smacked me a good one. First bolt came off fine. Second bolt. Nope. Stripped out badly. These soft steel bolts use an allen wrench to tighten/loosen and the internal hex rounded over quite spectacularly as the lock washer did its job. OK Ill just grab my socket set / oh wait / the external heads arent hex / they are round. Lovely. Do you know what takes off a well/seated round bolt? I do now. A vise grip, some cool new swear words I invented on the spot (kind of proud of myself for a few of them), a bloody knuckle when it slipped off on the 6th try, and some incredible hand pressure. 6 bolts finally out, 3 trashed. And how many extra bolts do we get. One. Lovely. One trip to the hardware store during a raging pandemic. Lovely.
Summary: Nice bed. Lousy cheap steel fasteners. Fire the 3rd cousin that cant put the ONE DAMN STICKER on the right way.
So close to being a good experience.
