This is the second futon that Ive purchased. The first I use as an extremely comfortable bed, and this is now my living/room sofa.
The assembly is not all that difficult in terms of figuring out what goes where, but it really takes either a gorilla of a man to manipulate the assembled pieces or two people. The mattress in particular is difficult to manipulate alone. Also, putting the sliding seat into the base is best done with two people/and remember to keep the pieces very loosely connected so that the seat can fit into the base.
The seat is very deep, so unless one is well over 6 ft, it will require some pillows for us shorter versions of humankind.
I definitely recommend these futons. They are both pretty and very comfortable.
