I would definitely recommend this bed. My kids love it. My son is 3 and has no issues climbing to the top using the steps. I didnt completed know how high the top would be from the ground so hope this helps. I have 56 and the top rail to the top bed come just a smidge above my boobs. I did not experience and Oder to the bed either. Some pieces are a little rough but otherwise amazing.
