It is a tent... and all that goes with it. Good budget tent. Nice fair weather porch

The best attribute of this tent is also its weak link. The screen porch is freakin awesome. My wife, I and two small kids can comfortably sit in the screened in area in our camp chairs. As kids get older that wont be the case. The semi cover for the screened in porch is not good in rain. So the porch is for fair weather only. And when it rains, even stuff up under the partial cover will still get wet as the floor will catch a lot of water and it runs around. If you are slopped away from the main compartment you might keep some dry spots right up against the tent. There are vents/holes up close to the main compartment for water to drain rather than just collect in this area, there is a full on mesh strip at the leading edge where the door is. The bag we got has a stitch in it you can easily (designed to) pop to give it a lot more room than it comes in initially which makes packing things up markedly easier. It is a 3 pole setup and requires some staking to be stable. Once it is at least minimally staked it seems fairly stable and likely to stand up to mild to moderate winds... but not sure beyond that. If you correctly did all the guy-lines I imagine it would do fairly well to a point. Stitching is not super high quality. Have used it 3 times and have some areas coming undone... par for the course with products in my experience. Nothing critical so far. Got it on sale and for the price (~100$) it is hard to complain to much. Plenty of room for family of 4 with gear and that is NOT counting stashing anything in the screened in portion. Would be comfortable for 4 adults. With 2 small kids it is overkill really. Do not really know on the weather proof front as the 3 nights I have had in it have been pretty nice and only one small shower. But I have never met a tent that is intact that you cant solve leaks with liberal use of scotch guard and seam sealer... something Id recommend doing each season anyway. Material is fairly lightweight, wouldnt want to use this in cold weather without really good sleeping bag. Ventilation is great without the fly on, decent with the fly on provided you stake out the guy-lines to keep needed paths open for wind to move up under it.
