The slats are duplet, and meet in the middle. They are bowed, and I can never sleep on a bed thats not totally flat. Apart from that, this bed is sturdy, and a very good buy in general. I have been addressing the slats issue by buying king bed slats and putting them over the bed frame, and that works just fine.
