For what its worth, the value is there for both functions. I personally would not want to spend more than one night in a row sleeping on this convertible, nor would I subject a guest to sleeping on it for any period of time. The part that connects the two pieces (seat and backrest) leaves a solid bar through the middle of the mattress when it is folded down so you have to sleep on one side of the bar or the other. Also, if youre 6ft+ your feet will dangle well off the edge. As a sofa, its fairly comfortable and leaves plenty of elbow room for 2-3 people. The construction is solid and the folding mechanism is extra simplified compared to a traditional futon/sofa sleeper, but I would be cautious not exceed weight limits. Would have given it a better rating if it slept better and was slightly longer. Still, if your looking for something inexpensive, lightweight, and versatile this is a great pick.
It makes a better couch than a bed
