Almost zero paint smell!!! That's rare.
One piece of engineering is poorly thought out: rear wood screws that doubly secure the frame to rear panel are going through a very thin piece of wood which splits easily and almost unavoidably. That must be improved. Still, overall a VERY nice, well made and easy to assemble bed.
Trundle doesn't close flush with the main bed frame which is just odd. I don't care about that too much though.
I would buy it again and recommend it to friends.
