Listen. Is this the fanciest bedframe? No. Is it affordable? YES.
For the price, youre getting a very reasonable, easy to build frame. A few adjustments really make it good and solid.
1) As per other customer suggestions, I added 2-inch L brackets in the corners. 2) I added felt weatherproofing tape to the center supports as well as the silver pieces that hold the slats to keep them from rattling. It cost me about $30 at Home Depot, but its worth it. Dont over-tighten when you assemble, you can always go back and tighten a bit more once its all together.
It took me about two hours to put together, then I left the drawers for another day which took me another two hours. Its straight forward, just time consuming. All of my pieces were there, and the instructions were clear. This is a good buy for someone on a budget. I bought a 12 inch mattress as well as a four inch mattress topper, and that raised the bed level with the shelved on the Tall Slant-Back headboard I purchased. Overall? Im pleased with it.
Easy to assemble. I built two of these by myself in an afternoon. Would be helpful to have two people on the final step when you attach the footboard in place because the slats have to line up just so. Took me about three tries on each bed to get the slats lined up by myself, so its definitely possible - just would be easier with two. The beds are beautiful, sturdy, drawers slide easily once you square the bed up. I just love them!
Let me preface this with the fact that I am great at building and fixing things. I originally offered to build a loft bed for my daughter and my wife said that she wanted to buy a pretty, white, girly loft with a built-in closet and desk. We ended up going with this one, which was the right call, but man was it a pain in the butt to build.
First off, it arrived 6 days earlier than the estimated delivery date. The bed came in 3 separate boxes that weighed 125-150 pounds each. Getting them up the stairs sucked. There are so many darned parts that are not easily identified in the diagram. There are roughly 60 locking cams that are all the same size with 4 that are longer for a specific purpose. We couldnt tell what they were for until the very end when we figure out where they went. If youre reading this before building the bed, they go on the ladder. Youre welcome!
All in all, it took us 7 hours to complete. Maybe it was the 12 pack we each drank or maybe it was too many parts. its a good bed and my daughter loves it, but Im planning on leaving it in the room someday when we sell the house as a surprise to the future owners because I can only imagine it will be a living Hell to remove the thing!
Suggestions for the company to make things easier:
1) Print the instruction booklet in color. It will help to identify and differentiate the various parts and where they go.
2) Have a bag of parts for each page in the booklet. Instead of having 2 bags of 30 locking cams each, a single bag with everything needed on a page by page basis would make a night and day difference in completing this build.
Love love love this bed! My daughter is 7 1/2 she has 3 little sisters so she doesnt have much space to call her own. The secret hide out is so fun. She absolutely loves the bed. I gave it 4 stars because the bed has a smell. If I keep her door open its not overwhelming but if the door gets shut its horrible.
Update - middle step broke - whole bed is completely useless now. Super disappointed.
Bed a bit wobbly when you are on the top. Not super thrilled about that.
Takes a little time, but the assembly went smoothly with a minimal amount of swearing. We were pleasantly surprised with the overall quality. Highly recommend.
Easy to put together and very sturdy .
Only negative thing is the slide is to straight.
My 4 year old son went down twice and both times he got hurt hitting hard at the bottom.
Same thing with my 6 year old grandson.
The slide was the main reason I bought this bed. Now I wish I would have saved my money..
Any suggestions on making the slide safe and fun for the kiddos?
Disappointed mommy.
