Order the next size up from your mattress otherwise your mattress will cover the whole top and there will be no edges around the bed. Although there is still some gapage, I just tuck the comforter in and you cant tell. When sitting up against the wall I have noticed the bed does slide so I will get some grips, I do not have carpet. Easy to put together. Overall I am pleased with my purchase.
Excellent storage, and good design. Be prepared to take a long time for assembly, but they provide VERY detailed instructions and very well labelled screws and tools. It just takes some time. But is worth it - great bed and wonderful storage area.
Very easy to assemble bed frame. The box that it came in wasnt in great shape, but the frame was fine. Each piece was labeled according to the instructions and was very straightforward in terms of which piece went where so you cant really mess up unless you dont pay attention to details. Took me less than an hour to finish building this. For the price of this frame, its quite sturdy, not noisy, even thought a bit of the faux leather was slight scratched, you cant see it. (Less than 1cm)
Like seriously, whos going to examine every inch of your bed frame thats going to technically be covered by your mattress just to check out if there were any scratches? Again, its super minor and Im not complaining because this is non expensive frame.
Note that a queen size bed will cover the majority of the frame so you wont see any of the edges like seen in the images. Im assuming the listing is showing a full-size bed? Not sure.
Also, not sure if this information is relevant, but you really dont need 2 people to build this bed. Might make assembling faster, but I assembled this by myself.
overall we love the bed frame. The pictures are very misleading though and the mattress does not fit inside the slot like in the pictures. My mattress sits on top ad goes flush with the edges. We originally liked the bed because in the pictures it shows the mattress sits inside and then theres an edge all the way around. But in reality that edge is non existent. In the end its not a big enough issue for me to return the frame, it will do.
As storage is paramount but sparse in my Victorian house, I bought this bed. It is sleek, understated and would fit just about any decor. I find, however, that it is lower than most beds. Maybe people put an extra memory foam layer on top of the mattress? The slats are normal and sprung. It supports weight and doesnt creak. But one should consider that it is lower, which could make it more difficult for older people.
Partially my own fault, I trusted the picture instead of looking at the dimensions. Rookie mistake. The bed absolutely will not look like how it does in the picture. The picture shows there being a small amount of room around the mattress so you can see the platform. I wasnt too upset with how it actually came out, it is 100% flush with the exact size of the mattress. A king mattress is 76x80 and thats the same dimensions as the bed frame. Overall still very happy. Easy to put together and very sturdy. Would recommend.
Originally I had a bed that went all the way to the floor - similar to this one but the difference was that I couldnt put anything under it. Upgraded to this one and now its like I have an extra storage closet!! Love it. Already filled it to the brim too but it helped to clear out my actual storage closet to make room for other things. Its also a great place to store all of my bedding (pillows, blankets, sheets, etc).
I was able to put this together in 1 hour and 3 minutes completely alone, but a second person would have definitely made things easier/faster. Ive included the instructions (pictures) so you can see what to expect. The most difficult part to do by myself was to add the main frame that holds the bed onto the lifting arms (and get them screwed on). But I managed to do it in a matter of minutes anyway Other than that part, it was all pretty easy. Great, easy to follow instructions.
A couple of tips/notes:
- A single person can put this together but itll definitely make things easier if you have another person there to help.
- On step 5, I added the N brackets to the bed frame FIRST and then lifted the frame to add the Z legs - this was much easier than doing it the way they say to do it (which is to add the legs to the brackets first and THEN mount the whole thing onto the bed frame). Doing it this way also allowed me to do it on my own (instead of having someone else there just lifting the bed while I screwed the bracket/leg assembly on).
- DONT LOSE ANY OF THE SCREWS! This kit only comes with the EXACT number of nuts and bolts required, not a single extra nut or bolt is included so be sure you dont lose any. I recommend using a magnetic wrist band (made for holding nuts and bolts) if you have one. Or just keep every nut and bolt in the case until youre ready to use them.
- If you wanted to, you could remove the large base boards (inside of the container area) to get a little bit more space. Of course then you might see things under the bed. Just an option if something is too tall to fit in there.
- Use double-sided tape on a few of the wooden slats that the mattress sits on - this will prevent the mattress from sliding when you lift the compartment. The little metal brackets that are supposed to stop the bed from sliding were not working well for my 8 thick memory foam mattress.
- Always wrap your mattress in an anti bed-bug cover! This will basically prevent you from ever getting bed bugs. They work amazingly well.
- You do not need a box spring on this bed. It has slats that are meant to replace the box spring so just place your mattress directly on top.
- Bed size is 79.5L x 56.5W x 42.5H. Measure out a space for it before you order
Other things worth noting:
- The lift is VERY strong. It has no problem at all lifting this somewhat heavy/dense, full-size memory foam mattress. In fact, its more difficult to pull the bed DOWN than it is to lift UP That means I can add all of my bedding and it still has no trouble lifting up. Of course when you put it down, it kind of locks into place (not really but it passes the point of resistance/lifting power) - so theres no chance of it just lifting on its own.
- I paid $325 for this bed, which I thought was an ok deal - but then the price went way up. I dont think I would have bought it if it was more than $325. I thought even $325 was a little high..
Hope this is helpful to someone else out there!
