Big Problem with the gas lifts, I tried to get them replaced and I got this answer from Dorel Home Products
I spoke with my shipping coordinator and the replacement gas lifts will behave the exact same way as the ones you have. These parts are made to be strong and hard to close so that they do not fall on anyone inside. Try to fully assemble the bed before closing the lifts. You will not get hurt as these lifts do not spring up if you dont close them fully. Try this and let me know as if you wait for the replacements and they are the same then you most likely will not be able to return your item any longer with .
The key to this purchase and it did not operate. Arrived inoperable. Could have found less expensive manual lift-up bed if thats what wed wanted.

Very clear instructions, its easy to follow but there are a lot of parts! I have mine against a wall so a screwed the two drawers together to make a very long pullout drawer.
This was not difficult to put together. Yes, it does take a bit of time and we found the assembly pointers in other reviews to be helpful.
It is easy to lift and close, too. It is sturdy and well-made and we are very pleased with it.
This is okay for the price. I have had a small problem with the middle of the bed feeling like it is uphill where the center brace is. I havent had it very long and I keep hoping it will smooth itself out. Not sure how that will happen but the bed looks great and so far seems to be very sturdy.
I absolutely love the frame. Its sturdy and I love the looks of it. The only thing I dont like is my mattress covers the whole frame including the ledge that goes almost all the way around.
