While assembling, which was very easy, I was dismayed to see do not use as TV stand, which is why I purchased the item!
However, I believe that the recommendation was for old, heavy tube type TVs, where stability might have been an issue. The cabinet can easily handle a reasonable weight. I have a 30 flat screen, and it is working out perfectly. (went through a 6.5 earthquake just fine, I should add)
However, in a childbased household, Id probably think twice about it. And either send the kid away, or attach this cabinet to the wall. Or possibly attach the kid to the wall.

This arrived in TWO. DAYS! I had to look it up, I am a few hours away from the nearest warehouse!! I didnt expect it for over a week! It was easy to put together and it looks great! We use it for a Keurig. The Keurig itself fits great! The Keurig roller drawer is a slightly too big, it fits nice if you turn it sideways.
Took a long time to assemble by myself, but the instructions are terrific and all the pieces are labeled as well as all the hardware, which was awesome! Very beautiful!

Although the cabinet is not made of solid wood, once assembled it is a solid and sturdy piece of . Easy to assemble with the step by step instructions, gettting a proper balance on the doors was the most challenging.
I wanted a buffet with a plank style top, but this one fit my budget and space in my tiny kitchen, so I ordered it and customized it to how I want. I just used 4 1x4s and cut them to the width of the unit but let them overhang a minuscule amount on the front and back as the outlet is behind the buffet anyways. Works perfect. Added matching shelving, not quite complete yet but definitely worth it.
