I love everything about this scooter except I cannot put it back together as shown in videos and instructions. The body hooks do not drop down on the axle of the rear wheels without determined and repeated manipulation sometimes beyond my capability. It seems like the fenders/plastic gets in the way. I have had several friends help and they have the same issues. I even went to the repair facility in Phoenix and they had difficulty but no suggestions for easy assembly except everything has to be perfectly aligned which is almost impossible to do without repeated tries. I would like to have it replaced but it is beyond the one month time limit. Help!
January 2021 update: Use it but very infrequently now as I now use a motorized wheelchair. I guess I would give it better than a 2 star now. Battery became very weak after a few years as one might expect so just had it changed. Went to a Batteries Plus battery store and they replaced the guts for 95. Thought that was a good deal considering the Drive folks charge 260 for a new one. Not sure if it will last but they were Duracell batteries so optimistic.
For the money this is a really nice little scooter. We use it to run the dog twice a day, about a mile each time and it only needs charging every 4 or 5 days. It is a rough ride on an older paved road. It is a little heavy to put into the car but removing the batteries and seat helps with that. After three months we are quite satisfied.
I didnt want to pay too much for a scooter since I like to walk a bit. Due to my stroke, I am left/sided hemiplegic. So I needed something for my long walks in the park. I could walk and ride when someone is with me. Its light weight (the heaviest is the battery). It is is easy put together and stores nicely in my car. I wouldnt recomend this who depends on a motorized vehicle to get around, because it is not built to absorb shocks.
Only used it once. It ran good and made my trip enjoyable. It doesnt turn as sharp as I thought it would, but my husband is glad because that way I wont turn it over on myself with a sharp turn. All in all it seems to be a great purchase. I might add, make sure the lever by the back wheel in not in neutral or it will not start.
I love the scout. I dislike 2 things about it. Because of tires its a bumpy ride outside. Also, I wish it could run in wet weather. Wish I could weather proof.
The Scout is a good low price option. Its heavy and faster than a New Yorkers pace. Battery last a very long time. It hardly ever drops more than one green light on the meter. Shock absorption is not the best so if you have spine issues consider a better unit. I bought this bc I did not want to rent one (way more expensive even at 3 weeks), its saved me cab fare and I will most likely donate it when I am threw. It pays for itself. Only real issue that bugged me was the turn radius was not what was reported. Its really wide and difficult to navigate wheelchair ramps and indoors without series of three point turns//outdoors is best.
Like to see a little bigger wheels on it. Doesnt like hills at all and doesnt make near the distance they claim. It serve the purpose for a cheap ride just watch your distance. Be nice if you could adjust the seat back father.
I was a little worried buying this as an open box item, but I was very surprised. The unit was fine no damage, compared to the higher priced models not thru this was indeed a gem. Easy to put together, not to heavy to put into car trunk. We will be using this on next trip to Disneyworld and cost of renting one there for 10 days covers the cost of this one, and we have it to help get thru airport and for other trips. Overall very pleased,is exactly as described on . Just an added thought we bought a water proof BBQ cover for it for 20.00 and fits great no need to buy one specific for the scooter at higher cost.
Bought this for my husband who has mobility issues and he uses it on a daily basis. Very easy to load in the car and take with us. I just hope it lasts.
