I was looking for a cheap platform bed to replace my gigantic sleigh bed. This product fit the bill and seemed like itd be relatively easy to set up.
Ive put together more than a few furniture pieces, and this was one of the easiest. Yes, it took 2 of us about an hour, but the directions are fairly clear and the most of the pieces are labeled. (This is more than I can say about my daughters toddler bed that took me 4 hours/ no joke.)
I want to be clear/ because of the price, I did NOT expect a perfect bed that had perfectly lined up screw holes and perfectly sized boards. We had one screw that went too close into the edge of one of the boards, so we had to make a new hole (because of this, Id recommend you have an electric screwdriver.) The end that goes toward the wall wasnt all that even, but the part that actually shows at the front was, so its not a big deal.
IT. IS. HEAVY. I thought the 111 pound shipping weight listed here was a joke. Um, no, its not. However, it comes in pieces, so you can carry a few at a time to your bedroom. Likewise, it would probably be hard to move this, so I wouldnt buy it if youre planning to switch homes in a year.
As long as you realise that you wont be getting a thousand dollar bed for a hundred bucks, this is a fabulous piece of furniture. No more boxsprings, WOOHOO!
Well this thing was definitely heavy when it arrived and plus it took forever to get here. Assembly doesnt look that complicated but you have to be very careful when laying down the slats that actually comprise the platform part. If you dont align them exactly right, everything will be off. Also the items provided for assembly (screws and pegs) seemed very flimsy, i ended up adding nails to various areas of the platform for extra support. I dont think this platform would survive a couple of moves. Also, the photos for this item were very misleading. In the product pics, it seems as if the platform where the bed sits on is made of a hardwood material but i was very disappointed when i opened the package and realized that they were just bland uncolored slats of compressed cardboard/plywood. All in all, I feel like i got what i paid for, you cant beat 130, cheap price=cheap product
I knew I wanted a black size bed for my guest room but I had a lot of trouble finding one (in/stock) in town and had company coming. Yikes! came thru with super/fast shipping via UPS and a great product.
Ive never purchased a large furniture item online sight unseen but I took a chance because of the positive reviews and the great price.
I ordered this bed in ebony and the finish is nice. It has just enough shine / more than a matte but less than a high/gloss. Putting it together was easy enough for me (54 female) to do myself. All of the screw holes were pre/drilled and the screws go into metal not wood which makes for easy assembly. All the pieces were well labeled and the directions were simple to follow. Everything lined up nicely and I simply placed the box under the end I was not working on to hold everything in line. I assembled this myself in under an hour.
One thing I do want to mention is what came with the bed since it was a little unclear from the other reviews. I ordered the Nomad Platform Bedframe in Ebony. I received one tall headboard, one short footboard and two side rails in ebony finish. I ALSO received three slats in an oak color to go under the mattress. I didnt like how the mattress felt being put right on the slats because there was too much space in between. I simply went to the improvement store and had three more slats cut and put those down. Now, the bed is great and comfortable even without a box spring under the mattress.

My platform looks great. Perfect for a modern young adult. Its been sturdy so far. All the pieces were the correct sizes. I weigh about 112 and if I can do it, you should be able to. I suggest putting the two long mattress guards on before putting the B B1 pieces on the base. Unless you like laying on your back to screw nails in. Youll have to do that for the last one if youre working alone. Overall it looks great, feels great, and you cant beat the price.
This is a very good product to purchase. Very sturdy and it wasnt too hard to assemble for one person. It is a bit tricky to get the mattress guards on though. I do recommend getting a memory foam mattress with this product, very comfortable
Well, its a bed. It lays there and you lay on it with a mattress to put on top. So, overall its okay for the money and looks pretty good (like the photo).
Although, there is a major flaw. The materials are so freaking heavy that if you try to pick the bed up to move it, the top/surface boards will come off on the side that you lift (even with no mattress on top)! The pre/drilled holes actually make matters worse because the screws you insert are technically only gripping one board, not the board with the pre/drilled holes. The instructions say NOT to use a drill. USE a drill! If you have extra wood screws handy (or buy some) drill/drive in about 2 or 3 extra screws right around and in between each pre/drilled screw holes on ALL of the top/surface boards. I did this and now (even though I am still really careful) the top/surface boards hold strongly enough to the frame so you can pick up one side of the bed if necessary. I think they tell you not to use a drill because the boards are fairly narrow and if you are not careful you can split the wood or drive a screw threw the finished part of the board. Be careful, but it is a risk you should definitely take unless you will never move the bed for all eternity (or unless you will plan to move it again only because you are short on firewood).
It was fairly easy to put together by myself, even though some of the labels (e.g. board L/1) were worn off and not legible.
If you are planning on moving soon, I would either buy a different bed or buy this and not set it up until after you move. I understand it is a bed that has to hold a lot of weight (depending) but for such a cheap product with a weak method of attaching some of the boards, it is TOO heavy (150lbs). They definitely could have used lighter boards or more and stronger screws (guess that was not cost effective enough).
Also, unless you cover your whole bed with a blanket (or something over/hanging past where the mattress meets the bed) there are parts of the unfinished top/surface board that will show (mostly in the corners. I bought some chocolate shelf paper that does the trick (the bed is sort of cheap, what do you expect) or I guess you could paint it. A bed skirt would defeat the purpose of buying this bed I think.
On the plus side, this bed can really hold some major weight (but you probably should eat less junk/fast food and exercise more if that is a plus).
Finished assembling this bed yesterday/ took me good 4/5 hrs,
the only good part seems to be the cost. the planks were of different sizes, and the holes for the screws on the platform would not match the frame under it, so landed up drilling new holes, and if the holes are not exactly on the center/ the board frame under it will just rip apart, the platform is made of four planks/ 2 large ones for the sides and 2 small ones for the center, as i said the holes on these did not match the frame, so if you screw it just like that/ the side would all be malaligned and the moulding would not fit i drilled new holes, finally giving up on the central planks/ that are now held only by one screw each.
to fit the moulding you are supposed to screw upside down, lying down .very very painful, and the review saying that your hands will pain the next day is very very true.
i have hidden the ragged unequal end of the platform towards the wall the only reason i have not returned it is that i have been through a lot of trouble opening the box and carrying 130 pounds of wood up 2 floors (in pieces), then spending 4 hrs of back breaking work on it i simply do not have the strength to dismantle it again
My advice / if you are seriously planning to buy this furniture, please go to a forrest cut down a tree and try making one for yourselfthat will be a lot easier
I ordered this product on June 29, 2011, i just go the free shipping so it arrived at July 11 which was good. After opening the product, i didnt see any damage to it so I think Im satisfied with that. Unfortunately, for some odd reason, they gave the product to me 1 day early only to find that none of the screws or pegs were there. I checked the manual and it gave me a number to call if i needed any replacement parts. After asking for the missing parts which i found rather irresponsible of them to actually forget, I then find out the agent that I talked to didnt process the shipment of the parts. So I had to talk to someone again and this time they actually gave me a tracking number. After that, I found out that the decided to ship the missing parts to me using the slowest possible way, I now have to wait until July 21 to actually use the bed frame because of their actions
I have waited two and a half weeks for my bed frame to arrive, but it was supposed to be here in three/five days/OH WAIT. IT WAS AVAILABLE ON PRIME SO IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HERE IN TWO. It finally arrived today and guess what? Three parts are missing. Until I get those three parts Im once again stuck sleeping on the floor. I find this ridiculous. I ordered this bed frame to save money, but its ending up causing me more time and trouble than the amount of money I paid for.
The packing job was also very poor for this item, which has caused my very rating.
I dont know whether or not the bed frame itself holds up, but Ill let you all know and then give a product review instead of a rating based on the piss poor costumer service.
I have order two smaller items from this company/ a nightstand and three drawer dresser. They arrived on time and were fairly easy to put together. Much more neatly packed than this item.
It is because of their timeliness and the overall good service experience with the other two items that I am willing to give this company another shot. However, if I had known that Id go through this in ordering I obviously wouldnt have done so.
Update: Im asking for my money back.

One Person Can Do The Job

Difficult to assemble, difficult to move, not worth it
